Tony Falkenstein - Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business
Tony Falkenstein, of Mission Bay, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business.
Mr Falkenstein is a philanthropist who has contributed to business and the community in Auckland for a number of years. He established the Onehunga Business High School, New Zealand’s first business high school.
He advocated for and contributed to establishing business as a subject in the New Zealand school curriculum. In 2007 and 2009, he took students on trips to New York’s business district. He has donated two million Just Water shares to Onehunga Business School of the University of Auckland Business School, and UNITEC. Mr Falkenstein initiated the establishment of the Onehunga Construction High School in 2004, which focuses on students achieving qualifications in the trade industry.
