The opening day of Rugby World Cup 2011 saw hosts New Zealand beat Tonga 41-10 at Eden Park in Auckland in front of 60,214 people.

The first of 48 matches in this year's tournament was preceded by a memorable Opening Ceremony, including a guest appearance from All Black legend Jonah Lomu.

Throughout the tournament we will be providing a regular Fan Forum which will include some of your comments from the official Rugby World Cup Twitter account, @rugbyworldcup, and #rwc2011. Here's a selection from the opening day:

@ScottQuinnell: NZ will be pleased with the win. Tonga a good SH. The World Cup is on its way. Good luck to all.
@MiraB: Two passionate teams and the match was well played. One of the best opening encounters, in my opinion!
@NL2NZ: Just got back from Rugby World Cup in Auckland. What a party! The fireworks were AMAZING and so were the people.
@Eaglesan: What a great night, everything worked perfectly, beer and food on hand plus a great Opening Ceremony. Well done all involved.
@PaulBrackley: Israel Dagg is having an absolute flyer!
@tonyjc82: New Zealand's Haka - probably the most terrifying sight in World sport!!! Loved Tonga's attempt too!
@munchwithme: If the games are anywhere near as good as the opening ceremony we're in for a great time!
@shayne_hope: Kid player wearing Canterbury's red and black a nice touch during Opening Ceremony!
@Anthonyk2010: Best Opening Ceremony of a sporting event I have ever watched. Well done.
@Dewet09: #RWC2011 Opening Ceremony brought tears to my eyes! Tears of joy! It was amazing! Good luck to all teams!
@LittleBoos: It's Friday and 7 weeks of @rugbyworldcup starts today! Bring it on
@bjrnewton: Downloaded the RWC2011 App for my BlackBerry. It's the best App I have hands down. Well done!
