The first weekend of Rugby World Cup 2011 ended with reigning champions South Africa edging past Wales thanks to a late try from Francois Hougaard.

The replacement back's impact was just one of many talking points from the first eight matches, which also saw wins for hosts New Zealand, Scotland, Fiji, France, England, Australia and Ireland.

Throughout the tournament we will be providing a regular Fan Forum which will include some of your comments from the official Rugby World Cup Twitter account, @rugbyworldcup, and #rwc2011, and here is a selection of your thoughts after the opening weekend:

@BryanHabana: Not pretty... Mostly nerve-wrecking but a win none the less.. A lot to work on though!!
@adrianflude: Rugby World Cup must be pleased as punch at a fantastic opening set of games, stunning sporting efforts from all teams and great organisation
@RegNom: My thoughts? My sleeping pattern is completely screwed. #RWC2011
@discobisc: James O'Connor was a game changer for the Wallabies and Priestland was impressive for Wales. #rwc2011
@kiwitom777: Wonderful, fantastically gripping games!! As expected from Rugby World Cup
@Miss_deejaybaps: What an awesome weekend of RWC games! Can't wait for the rest of them
@crazyfruitbat: The majority of losing teams this weekend were all the better teams, it shows how the game is progressing worldwide
@livviehallam: Definitely impressed. a lot of high scoring games just in the first weekend! Some underdogs have shown true potential!
@BekahKOME: How good has the Rugby been this weekend at the Rugby World Cup? Games I loved were Romania, Wales, Japan and Argentina
@TheseDaiz: Fiji v Namibia had to be my favourite game so far. Taumalolo my favourite player so far & still buzzing over the ceremony
@ClaudiaRose5: The Welsh boys should be immensely proud of their performance. You have done Wales proud with that start

@atjones88: I think Wales against South Africa was by far the best game of the tournament so far. And Wales the best European side as of what we've seen

@milindat: The big boys don't go hiding under umbrellas and let rain stop play. Just one of the reasons I love the game
@sg1padawan: USA impressed me - great game vs Ireland. Best match so far was Wales v South Africa - by a long shot!
