Keep Hutt City Beautiful (KHCB) celebrates 20 years today.

During this time, it has been at the forefront of efforts to prevent litter, reduce waste, and keep Lower Hutt clean and tidy.

More than 200 people have actively supported the organisation and thousands of people across our city have been involved in annual Keep Hutt City Beautiful Week clean-ups during the past 30 years.

KHCB chairperson Leigh Sutton acknowledges the efforts of founding members, Stan Butcher and Roy Hewson.

“It’s great to see passionate people in our community come forward to make our city beautiful.”

Today Mayor Ray Wallace will present certificates of appreciation to the men for their outstanding commitment, leadership and service to the community.

A full page advertisement in today’s Hutt News acknowledges all the individuals, groups and organisations that have been part of KHCB’s 20-year journey.

If you’d like to know more about KHCB or how to get involved, contact Council’s environmental sustainability advisor Sandy Beath-Croft on 570 6666 or email keepbeautiful@huttcity.govt.nz.
