MARLBOROUGH

The Council is doing lots of things very well according to our annual survey of Marlborough residents, which checks on our level of customer satisfaction.

A professional research firm conducts the telephone survey, talking to 602 randomly selected residents to find a sample that reflects age, gender and the local/recent arrival balance of our district’s demographic profile.

The research firm says our overall rating of 6.9 out of 10 for the quality of our services is up on last year and compares “very favourably” with the other councils it surveys.

Our library services once again earn the highest accolade – you like the good service, the staff and the resources.

But you also rate us highly on our sewerage services, emergency management and drinking water supply. There’s been a great deal of work in these areas over the last year, with major sewerage infrastructure work, some severe storms to deal with and a major upgrade of Blenheim’s water supply, so it’s good to know that residents understand and appreciate what the Council has been doing.

You strongly approve of our waste management too – the kerbside recycling and resource recovery centre get a very big thumbs up – and you appreciate the good work the Council team does in maintaining our gardens and reserves. Even the lowest rated area – river engineering – had the satisfactory ranking of 5.8.

This research is important because it also helps to keep the Council informed of ratepayer priorities. These results tell us your key priorities haven’t really changed – sewerage and water, emergency management and community safety. But, rest assured, the Council will continue to strive to keep our customers – the residents of Marlborough - satisfied.
