Cultural performances, hip hop dancing, buskers and street theatre performers
will be part of the entertainment and activities for Hamilton’s Rugby World Cup
2011 Community Days.

The revitalised Garden Place will host the Community Days on the three days
Hamilton hosts Rugby World Cup 2011 matches – 16 September, 18
September and 2 October. They are free to the public, and coincide with the
installation of the ice rink in the central city square.

School kapa haka groups, a drum circle and an assortment of stalls are also part
of the Community Days, while three members of the 2011 Chiefs Super 15
Rugby squad will judge a haka competition.

The Community Days’ activities will kick off at 10am, and run through until
2pm. They complement the FanZone (Hood Street-Anglesea Street), which will
operate for six nights (16 September, 17 September, 18 September, 24
September, 2 October and 23 October) and features a big screen and live
music.

“These Community Days will be a lot of fun. Garden Place will be a great place
for a lively pit-stop for fans heading down to Waikato Stadium as well as a great
place for those not going to the matches to enjoy the excitement of the
tournament,” Rugby World Cup Ambassador Peter Bos says.
