A quarter of our ratepayers have already worked out that paying their rates by direct debit makes a lot of sense. It’s very easy to set up and we encourage other ratepayers to do the same.

You can pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly, by direct debit through your bank.
It’s a convenient, time-saving option and it means that not only do you spread the cost out over the year, there’s no risk of penalties should you forget that rates are due.

The Council can make all the arrangements with your bank; you just need to fill out a direct debit form available from the Council, providing us with the property address and the bank account number from which the rates will be paid.

If your rates change, the Council will make the necessary adjustment to your direct debit and advise you of the change. Details of payments will always appear in your bank statement.

It’s a very efficient option. You’ll be able to see from your bank statement that your rates are being paid and you’ll never have to worry about missing the rates deadline and incurring penalties because you’re away.

Our Customer Services staff can help you fill out the direct debit form.
