Young Hamiltonians to be celebrated at Recognyz Youth Awards
The outstanding achievements of Hamilton youth will be celebrated at the Recognyz Youth Awards 2011 at Founders Theatre next Friday, 30 September from 7.30pm.
Now in its seventh year, the Recognyz Youth Awards showcase the amazing and often unnoticed contributions that young people aged 12-24 years old make to Hamilton.
Awards will be presented in seven categories, as well as an overall Supreme Award which will see one young achiever receive $2000 in prize money to further their aspirations.
Hamilton City Council General Manager Community Lance Vervoort said the awards are an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the great achievements of our local youth.
“Recognyz Youth Awards are all about celebrating the great things youth are achieving in Hamilton and recognising the significant contributions they are making within our communities,” he said.
The Recognyz Youth Awards 2011 will include an impressive line-up of local youth talent, with entry by gold coin donation to Best Buddies – an organisation that works to break down the barriers that inhibit people with intellectual disabilities from participating fully in community life.
The Recognyz Youth Awards is Hamilton Youth Council’s major project and is supported by major sponsor 89.8 ZM, along with SBS Bank, Glenview Community Centre, Hamilton Cook Islands Association, NZ-Central, McCaw Lewis, Wintec, Trust Waikato, ninetyfour youth centre and Westpac.
