Head Coach Colin Tuaa, along with assistant, Clive Campbell, is very excited about the makeup of the squad and is delighted with the way the team is shaping up.

"Clive and I have been most impressed with the work ethic and commitment from the players so far. There is a great team spirit building and the atmosphere both on and off the field is electric. We possess many talented individuals and if we gel the way I believe we can, we will be tough to beat this season."

Tuaa is also pleased with the overall balance and depth accross the squad.

"We have recruited players that are versatile and can play various roles. We also have plenty of speed and flair across all positions and the squad is littered with experienced and technical players, who possess the football intelligence to take control of games. Add to that, our proven goal scorers and we have the recipe for success."

There are a number of new faces at the club this season and Tuaa says they have settled in extremely well at Auckland City.

"To be honest the squad looks as though they have been together for sometime. Each individual brings something exciting to the team. They have all been made to feel very welcome by the club and our existing players have played a huge part in this."

With the opening match of the season now less than four weeks away Tuaa has a positive message for all Auckland City supporters.

"We aim to play an attractive brand of football built around a solid defensive base. I know that you will witness some memorable moments this season and I can assure you that the players will always give their very best for Auckland City FC."

2) "KIWITEA STREET TO BE RE-SURFACED"

The playing field at our home ground Kiwitea Street is being completely re-surfaced, with development commencing this week.

Works will include 7000m of new sand slits and a new 50mm sand carpet surface. It will be sown with the rye grass used on top international sports fields. This development will help to provide an excellent free-draining playing surface that will service the club's increasingly demanding playing requirements for many years to come.

As a result of the pitch upgrade our first five home matches of this season will be played "away" at the Croatian Cultural Society situated at 161 McLeod Road, Henderson.

To reach the ground you exit the North Western Motorway from Auckland at Te Atatu and continue left. Continue on Te Atatu Road and veer left at the first roundabout. Then turn left at the first traffic lights into McLeod Road. The ground is on right at the end of road, opposite Waitemata Soccer Club's grounds.

The team will return to Kiwitea Street for its first match on the new surface on 2 February 2008 when they take on Waikato FC in the NZFC.
