Christchurch City Council hearings of comments on the draft Central City Plan begin next Monday, 3 October 2011.

About 5000 comments from just under 3000 individuals and groups were received on the draft Central City Plan, says Council Strategy and Planning General Manager Mike Theelen.

"Many of these comments touched on several different aspects of the draft Plan and when broken down numbered more than 14,500. This reflects the strong interest that remains in the community around how the Central City is redeveloped and rebuilt in coming years."

He says about 450 organisations and individuals have asked for their comments to be heard by Council.
