Free bacon and eggs are the order of the day this month thanks to i-SITE's support of 'CamperMate' - a new phone application for campers.

This innovative new phone application encourages responsible camping by providing locations for i-SITEs, rubbish bins and public toilets, and free wi-fi, amongst others.

The phone application was created by a Christchurch start-up company who are now, with the help of 14 i-SITES across New Zealand, serving up breakfast to promote 'CamperMate'.

In Wellington alone, 200 breakfasts were served to a receptive crowd today.

i-SITE Executive Manager Paul Yeo says the launch is positioned perfectly for Rugby World Cup 2011 visitors.

"There are 5,500 campervans in New Zealand's commercial fleet and it's estimated that there are another 20,000 owned privately by New Zealanders, some of which are on the road too.  So we're really pleased to be helping to promote this camping tool.

"Responsible tourism is very much a part of what i-SITE's help promote, and as we know there have been instances where some campers have - for whatever reason - left their mark. So to proactively provide an innovation resource such as 'CamperMate' is very positive.

"It's also been a pleasure working in partnership with such an energetic and innovative company."

Visitors can pick up a 'CamperMate' brochure from any i-SITE, or download from the 'CamperMate' website.

Bacon and eggs will be served at selected New Zealand i-SITES until October 6. For dates and locations click here.
