WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are yet again pleased with the well-behaved crowd at the Tonga versus France game at the Wellington Regional Stadium this evening (October 1).

Wellington Police District RWC Operation Commander Inspector Simon Perry says there was only one arrest for possession of cannabis and five evictions, mainly for alcohol and disorder.

"Tonight's game has topped off what has been a great day in the city with Festival of Carnivale events and New Zealand Navy 70th anniversary commemorations attracting a large number of people to the city."

Inspector Perry says a large number of Police staff are out and about tonight, ensuring RWC fans and visitors to the city can enjoy a safe night out.

"We expect festivities to continue again tomorrow, as Wellington prepares to host the All Blacks, ahead of their match against Canada tomorrow afternoon."
