An Amazing Race comes to FlaXrock

Don‟t be surprised of you see teams of people running around Flaxmere with puzzled but excited
looks on their faces.

FlaXrock Recreation Centre is to run their own event similar to Amazing Race, which will have
entrants racing around Flaxmere finding clues and completing challenges.

Recreation Programmer for FlaXrock Tessa Flowers says “Six teams of five people will be chosen
to take part in the Amazing Race from those who have „liked‟ on the FlaXrock facebook page. The
teams will be set a number of interesting challenges which the competitors will have to complete
on foot. Anyone caught hitching a ride will be penalised.”

The race will be run in conjunction with an open day at FlaXrock on Saturday November 26th
were everyone will be able to sample the great activities which are available at the community
facility.

Flaxmere Councillor Jacoby Poulain says “This will be another chance for the people of Flaxmere
to come together and show pride in their community. It will be a great fun day with lots of activities
for everyone and another chance for the community to benefit from what promises to be an
excellent event.”

Tessa Flowers says” There has been great support from local businesses, which have provided
the use of their premises for some of the challenges and prizes for the winning teams. Anyone who
is interested in competing in our version of the Amazing Race should go and „like’ the FlaXrock
facebook page.”

Flaxmere businesses which are supporting the event include United Video, New World, BP, Swim
Heretaunga, Salon 19 and Furnware. The Flaxmere Community Police and the Flaxmere Library
will also lend their support to the event.

FlaXrock is a Hastings District Council owned facility in Flaxmere that provides the community with
exciting sporting, fitness, adventure and social activities.
