The Warmup Pushbikes Cycling Team has named an eight strong line up for tomorrow’s third round of the Benchmark Homes elite cycling tour being held in North Canterbury that includes New Zealand representative Lauren Ellis.

Ellis, a World Championship Silver Medallist and Commonwealth Games medallist on the track, won round two of the series in Timaru, and team management says it is keen to see her repeat that success tomorrow.

The Warmup Pushbikes Cycling Team has also signed up a second female rider for the series. Sharlotte Lucas from the West Coast lives in Christchurch while studying at Canterbury University and suffered a mechanical early in the Timaru race that saw her withdraw.

Lucas has had some very strong results, including a good win in May’s Girls on Bikes where she beat several of Canterbury’s leading local female riders in a close finish, and is keen to see how she can perform in a Benchmark event.

The category two Warmup Pushbikes Cycling Team was lying fourth overall in the series, ahead of a large number of category one teams, and was focused on retaining its position on the points table. The Parry Field Lawyers Open round three of the Benchmark Series is 141 kilometres long and starts and finishes in Cust.

The Warmup Pushbikes Cycling Team for Saturday is; Scott McDonnell, Jeremy Inglis, John McKenzie, Glen Quantock, Ben Wortelboer, Simon Acker, Ellis and Lucas.
