Chevron is working closely with a locally owned station in Christchurch, Caltex Dyers Road, to repair extensive earthquake damage and to help this community business re-open.

“Chevron has been a huge help repairing and getting the site operating again – something I’m really looking forward to,” says Brad McFarlane, owner-operator of the station.

While damage above the ground was minor, compression caused by the earthquakes damaged the station’s underground tanks. Major restorative work has been required to remove and replace the tanks as well as stabilising the area.

“Helping this local business re-open is one small way in which we can help the community’s recovery,” says Jeremy Clarke, Chevron New Zealand. “We’re delighted to be involved.”

The new forecourt will host a 300square metre workshop and the shop is rebranding to “On the Spot”. It is set to reopen in November.

This is the only Caltex station to have been damaged in this manner by the earthquakes.
