Audit NZ V8 report to Council next week
Audit New Zealand has today confirmed they will present their audit report into the processes around Hamilton’s V8 Supercar event at Council’s 27 October meeting.
The report has been commissioned by Council for an independent review of the process followed by Council. V8 races on the streets of Hamilton have run annually since 2008, and it has recently been announced 2012 will be the last V8 Supercars race for Hamilton.
Council Chief Executive Barry Harris says Audit NZ has today provided a draft report to Council’s solicitors for their review, in advance of Audit NZ presenting their final report to Council at next week’s Ordinary Council meeting.
Under an agreed process with Audit NZ, the Mayor and Councillors will get first sight of the final report when it is presented to Council by Audit NZ in the public excluded section of the meeting.
Following the presentation and discussion the meeting will move back into public session to enable the report to be released publicly.
A review of the report by the Chief Executive will take place following this process, with any recommendations and learnings as a result of the report to be presented to Council at a later meeting.
