Update on roading conditions (5:30pm)

Some Southland roads will be closed overnight because of flooding. Both the Riverton-Otautau road at the Aparima River bridge and the Taramoa side of the Taramoa-West Plains road are closed now and are likely to remain closed. The Taramoa-West Plains road has water running across it and drivers are warned not to try crossing it.

The Pyramid-Waiparu Road and the Riversdale-Pyramid Road at the Pyramid bridge are also both closed and will definitely remain so overnight.

Water has subsided on most other roads but drivers are asked to take care particularly overnight.
