Negotiating the pavements on a mobility scooter or a walking frame can present a challenge when extra obstacles are in the way.

The Council responds to calls, or contact through its Fix-It form, about pavement potholes or cracks that need repair.

But residents can also help by ensuring their recycling bins are not left in the middle of pavements and children’s toys and equipment is not left outside on the street.

We’ve encouraged our contractors to make sure they return the bins to the edge of the pavement and the newspaper deliverers know to throw the newspapers well clear of the walking space.

A small obstacle can cause a fall for someone who doesn’t see clearly so it’s important to maintain a clear passage along the footpaths.

The Council Fix-It request form is a handy way of letting us know about an issue you feel needs our attention, such as a footpath in need of repair or a Council tree that needs trimming.

Please note that Fix-It requests are monitored during business hours only. To report an urgent issue that needs immediate attention, call our 24-hour number, Ph: 520 7400.
