The refurbishment of the second stage of the Marlborough Aquatic Centre - the existing 25-metre pool, the learn-to-swim pool and the spa and sauna area - is underway and due to be ready by the end of this year.

It’s a $14 M project for the Council but the public pool is one of the Council’s most heavily used assets.

The first stage of the redevelopment – the new 10-lane pool and the children’s swimming areas plus the new changing rooms – was completed and the facilities opened four months ago. Since then, the new lane swimming facilities have been attracting new swimmers of all ages working on their health and fitness, and large numbers of families have been enjoying the water play section.

Tiling on the new outdoor pool is underway and it is due to be open by Christmas.
