Hamilton children are in for a treat on Saturday when the annual Treats in the Park is held at Elliott Park.

The community-focussed event, from 2pm to 7.30pm, brings families and neighbours together in a safe environment, and is themed around Halloween.

Youth advisor Ani Nock, who is based at the Western Community Centre, says this year’s Treats in the Park will feature volleyball, dodgeball, graffiti art and skateboarding competitions, as well bouncy castles, live entertainment and rides.

“It has become an event the community is proud of and looks forward to, particularly the many children who attend,” Miss Nock said. “This event continues to grow and develop with greater numbers attending each year.”

Children who attend are given free treats, which Miss Nock said was a safer option than having them go door-to-door “trick or treating” on Halloween.

The event is alcohol and smoke-free, and children who attend must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A gold coin fee is required for treats tickets.
