Notice of Liquor/Fire Ban for Guy Fawkes 2011

A liquor ban is in effect in the Petone Foreshore area permanently, and also in Days Bay from 6.00pm Saturday, 5 November 2011 to 6.00am Sunday, 6 November 2011.

Petone Beach

The area bordered by the Hutt Road, Udy Street, Cuba Street, Manchester Street, William Street, east to the Te Mome Stream from the southern boundary of Wilford School, south down the stream, including McEwan Park, Hikoikoi Reserve and the Petone foreshore.
Days Bay Beach

The foreshore area between Marine Drive and Ferry Road to the north, and Waeranga Road to the south.

Liquor ban

No person may:

a) consume or possess liquor in a liquor ban area;
b) bring liquor into a liquor ban area;
c) have or use a vehicle in a liquor ban area in conjunction with any activity under paragraph (a) or (b).Any person who breaches the above bylaw commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of up to $20,000 under section 242(4) of the Local Government Act 2002.Police also have the power of arrest, search and seizure in accordance with section 169 of the Local Government Act 2002.

Ban on Bonfires

The Hutt City Council bylaw also prohibits the lighting of bonfires within reserves, including the above foreshore and beach areas.Please refrain from lighting any large fires (greater than 1.0m diameter) within the above areas, or above the high tide mark.
