DCC Industry Project Fund Allocations
The DCC's Industry Project Fund aims to assist collaboration between Dunedin businesses and industry organisations to overcome barriers or increase opportunities to bring economic benefits to the city and this morning Cr John Bezett, deputy chair of the Council's Finance Strategy and Development committee handed over another $195,000 to back local projects.
In funding the Malcam Trust, in partnership with Otago Polytechnic and 4 Trades, the Council has backed an alternative youth employment and training scheme with a total projected budget of $78,194 with a grant of $45,000.
At the same time the Council has chosen a study to assess the viability of silica solar energy by Scott Technology with partners Farra Engineering and Energy Link as the recipient of a $150,000 grant from the IPF. The total projected budget of this scheme was put at $300,000.
The criteria for the IPF's implementation requires at least three partners for each project and a commitment to retain the value of the proposal in Dunedin.
The Industry Project Fund has $631,000 available within the 2011/2012 financial year. The next round of funding will be in March 2012.
