Thirty-five work stoppages ended in the June 2007 year, Statistics New Zealand said today.

This compareswith 60 stoppages for the June 2006 year.

Stoppages in the June 2007 year involved 6,474 employees, andlosses of 21,015 person-days of work and $3.5 million in wages and salaries.In comparison, the 60 stoppages in the June 2006 year involved 16,628 employees, and losses of 27,536 person-days of work and an estimated $5.3 million in wages and salaries.

There were 28 complete strikes and seven partial strikes that ended in the June 2007 year.

In the June 2007 quarter, five work stoppages ended – all of which were complete strikes.

These involved 354 employees, and losses of 533 person-days of work and an estimated $0.08 million in wages andsalaries
