Sacred Hill Sauvignons Shine at Wine Awards

Sacred Hill Wines has walked away with Pure Gold for its 2011 Sacred Hill Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Sacred Hill Three Passes Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at the 2011 Air New Zealand Wine Awards. The winery also received two Pure Silver awards.

“It’s fantastic when you create wines that stand out as some of the best. These results reaffirm Sacred Hill’s reputation for producing quality medal winning wines that are 100% sustainably grown and produced,” says Sacred Hill Senior Winemaker Tony Bish.

Grapes sourced for the 2011 vintage of Sauvignon were of exceptional quality allowing the winery scope to work with different blends. These particular blends used grapes sourced from a carefully selected range of quality fruit across the Marlborough region.

According to Bish these wines are some of the best produced in years and truly reflect the region’s capacity to produce a world leading style of wine.

Sacred Hill Wines was also awarded Silver for the 2011 Sacred Hill HALO Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc and 2010 Sacred Hill Merlot Cabernet 2010.

The 2011 Sacred Hill Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Sacred Hill Three Passes Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc are now eligible for Elite Gold and the Champion Sustainable Wine of the Show Trophy to be announced at an Awards dinner on 12th November.

The 2011 vintage is a significant milestone for Sacred Hill as it celebrates 25 sterling years of wine making. Since the bottling of its first vintage in 1986 the essence of Sacred Hill has been to create fine wine and good times for family and friends to share. Today Sacred Hill produces four ranges of wine - Special Selection, HALO and Reserve - all are clearly distinct from one another reflecting the unique characters of the regions, vineyards they originate from and the influence of the skilled wine-making team.
