The five week Contemporary Issues in Science & Society course begins on 14 November and will explore some of the most relevant science issues in society.
Five different topics will be presented by high-profile academics in this entirely online course, via lectures, blogs, and an interactive discussion forum with the experts.
New Zealander of the Year Professor Sir Paul Callaghan will kick-off the course by exploring the connection between science and society, followed by four weeks studying the topics: Science and Impact of Climate Change, Human Evolution, What Makes New Zealand Unique, and the Psychology of Everyday Life.
SCIE 201 is a 15 point, 200-level course, open to all who have 30 course points from any subject.
The interactive teaching component runs from November 14 – December 16, 2011. Final assignment due on January 6, 2012.
