Major Army exercise concludes today
Exercise Wolf III, a month long New Zealand Army exercise conducted across the North Island, will finish today.
Wolf III began in Wellington and conducted activities in the Wairarapa, Waiouru and Te Kau. It ends this morning with the final activity in Kaipara.
The cavalry company will take a mandatory driver rest before departing the Northland area for Palmerston North and Linton Army Camp.
From 1000 today a large number of vehicles including 24 Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV), Pinzgauer Light operational vehicles (LOV) and Unimog trucks will be driving in convoys south on SH16 through Auckland onto SH1 and further south on the Western Axis. All exercise participants are expected in Linton by last light on October 18.
It is asked that the public show patience around the convoys, especially given the weather conditions over most of the country. Departure times will be staggered to avoid peak traffic in order to cause minimum disruption to other road users.
