Motorists are urged to drive carefully along Middle Renwick Road which will be the scene of roadworks for a little longer yet as Marlborough Lines completes the job of laying underground electricity cables from Murphy’s Road to the east end of the new Westwood development site in Springlands.

This is last leg of the urban section of State Highway Six to have services placed underground; improving visibility and removing roadside poles in the interests of road safety. Council, Marlborough Lines and the developer are sharing costs for this work.

At the same time a large new stormwater pipe is being laid along from Murphys Creek, all the way to Westwood. Work installing the watermain, down the north side of the highway from the Colemans Road treatment plant to the site, should be completed in the next day or so.

Construction of the roundabout at the entrance to Westwood from the State Highway is also underway now.

All the work is due to be finished by February-March 2012.
