As the first step in a strategic diversification of its business, HP distributor exeed has signed an exclusive agreement to distribute the SMX cloud-based email security service to the New Zealand market.

Exeed managing director Justin Tye says SMX is the first of a wide range of cloud software exeed will offer to its channel of 2,000 resellers. He says the launch of a cloud software portfolio reflects the rapid acceptance of cloud applications in the New Zealand market and a major opportunity for exeed to provide a quick and efficient channel interface for high demand Software as a Service applications.

“We’re delighted to be able to launch our new cloud software portfolio with SMX. Not only is SMX a New Zealand-owned and operated company, it is also an international market leader in its ability to provide carrier-grade, highly scalable email security for companies and organisations of all sizes. SMX is also designed from the ground up to be fast and easy for resellers to implement, with new customers able to be signed up and running literally within hours. It’s a great Software as a Service offering and because all companies and organisations need an effective anti-spam and anti-virus solution it represents a logical place for us to start in launching our cloud software portfolio,” Justin Tye said.

SMX co-founder and CEO Jesse Ball says the appointment of exeed as the exclusive SMX distributor in New Zealand will take the pressure off SMX’s own sales force which is stretched to the maximum servicing overseas sales enquiries as well as strong local demand.

“Exeed has state-of-the-art systems and processes and very high levels of customer satisfaction. HP has provided a great growth platform for exeed. We’ve seen exeed expand to take in other hardware lines such as Samsung, NETGEAR and Watchguard to good effect. We have great confidence that exeed will provide the same high levels of service to SMX resellers and we are particularly pleased to be selected as the first Software as a Service offering and the foundation service in exeed’s new SaaS portfolio,” Jesse Ball said.

SMX sales director Mike Murphy says SMX will continue to handle customer implementations and customer service directly, working with individual resellers and individual customers as required.

“One of the key selling points of SMX is the sophisticated but easy to use customer billing and provisioning. SMX is designed to be fast and easy for resellers to sell and provision new customers, with SMX technical support just a phone call away. The distribution agreement with exeed doesn’t change that, but just means there are more ‘feet on the street’ representing the service. It frees up our resources to focus on implementation and support,” Mike Murphy said.

About SMX
SMX is a market leader in cloud-based email filtering and cloud platform management. The company’s SMX3 platform not only delivers state-of-the-art inbound and outbound email filtering but also enables fast and easy integration of virtually any existing enterprise application and the serving of these applications via the cloud model. SMX3 integrates sophisticated user provisioning and billing and is designed to be easily ‘white labelled’, which means customers including Telcos, IT services companies and Internet Service Providers can incorporate SMX services under their own brands.

A key point of competitive difference is in SMX’s strategy of deploying its service ‘in country’. Local deployment – through an SMX datacentre or through the datacentres of market partners – ensures email is not routed through countries such as the United States, but is filtered in the customer’s own country, under local law and jurisdiction.

SMX has a blue chip list of 200 resellers and partners and more than 1,200 customers and 1.8 million users throughout the Asia Pacific region. Major international partners include Symantec, Fujitsu, Message Systems, CMC India (a subsidiary of the giant Tata Group) and KVH, one of Japan’s leading suppliers of high-bandwidth networks, datacentre services and related IT services.

SMX is a privately-owned company based in Auckland, New Zealand, where co-founders Jesse Ball and Thom Hooker lead sales, support and development teams focused on local and international sales, both direct and through reseller and license agreements. Visit: www.smxemail.com
