Yealands Estate Celebrates Triple Win at Sydney International Wine Competition
Yealands Estate has won three Blue-Gold Awards at the 2012 Sydney International Wine Competition.
A panel of 13 international judges awarded the Yealands Estate Pinot Noir Rose 2011 a Blue-Gold Award and named it in the Top 100 wines, placing it in the top five percent of all wines tasted.
Yealands Estate Gruner Veltliner 2011 and Yealands Estate Pinot Noir 2010 were also awarded Blue-Gold Awards in their categories.
"It's fantastic to see this recognition for three very different wines, all grown at our Awatere Valley vineyard,” says Yealands Estate Chief Winemaker Tamra Washington.
“The judges of this competition assessed wines not only for their technical excellence, but also alongside food matches. The unique flavour profile and minerality in the wines made from our Seaview Vineyard makes them particularly food-friendly.”
The Sydney International Wine Competition is Australia’s top wine competition and is held annually. This year's entries were assessed by a panel of judges from Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, including six Masters of Wine.
Of 2000 entries only the top 200 receive Blue-Gold Awards and only 15 percent of the total number of entries receive recognition.
