Wild South’s 2010 Pinot Noir has been given the honour of being named Best Red Wine Buy of the Year in this year’s Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines 2012.

Written by acclaimed wine writer Michael Cooper, the book helps readers make informed choices about the best value and best quality wines available. Now in its 20th year of publication, the Buyer’s Guide is a must have for newbies and wine-buffs alike.

“I awarded the 2010 Wild South Pinot Noir the accolade of best value red because I feel it over delivers on flavour for the $17.99 price point and actually drinks more like a $25-$30 wine,” says Michael Cooper.

The 2010 Wild South Pinot Noir has an intense bouquet of cinnamon and spice which flows into a wonderfully rich fusion of ripe cherries and Omega plums. This richness is balanced with a subtle hint of toasted oak. The palate gives a seamless flow of velvet tannins mixed with warm earthy notes and zesty baked plums add to an intense lingering finish.

Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide to New Zealand Wines 2012 is available in bookstores nationwide from 14 November 2011.
