Hutt City Council has a new policy to encourage development in the Hutt CBD with a potential value to developers of tens of thousands of dollars.

The policy remits council charges for commercial and apartment developments in the CBD that meet set criteria.

This includes building and resource consent charges, reserve contributions, development contributions, and rates.

Council’s city development manager Nicholas Lucas is excited by the policy’s potential to grow Hutt City’s economy.

“Growth in the CBD has been identified as a priority for the city and this initiative is intended to help drive that growth.

“The value of this policy to a developer can reach tens of thousands of dollars – offering real benefit to developers and the city’s future.

“Developers must get in quick as the policy is only on offer for a limited time and they must have applied for resource and building consents by 30 June 2015 to be eligible.”
