Tourism New Zealand's (TNZ's) business events team showed their support of the business sector with their attendance at the annual Conventions and Incentive New Zealand's conference in Wellington on 16 and 17 November.
The team were well represented with all but TNZ's Trade Manager for Greater China, Alfred Li Hu, present. The team included Business Development Manager Mischa Mannix, Business Events Bid Manager Leonie Ashford, Business Events Consultant Anna Agnew and Business Events Manager North America Steven Dixon who came over from Los Angeles for the conference.

While not able to attend the conference in person, TNZ's General Manager Marketing Communications Justin Watson made sure he was there virtually; outlining TNZ's strategy for Business Events and key markets to delegates by video.

Presenting alongside Mr Watson, Mischa Mannix acknowledged TNZ's recent involvement in the sector with its new responsibility of the Conference Assistance Programme (CAP) since 1 July 2011.

"We know our involvement is quite new in this sector. As we work to support and develop Business Events on a global level it will be crucial to work together, and for us to receive feedback and insights from the industry to enable us to shape our support of the sector and fulfil our role."

The team also gave an update to the Regional Conventions Bureau at their quarterly meeting and announced the new business events section on tourismnewzealand.com, developed to communicate to the New Zealand industry the activity that TNZ is undertaking and how industry partners can work with TNZ to grow delegate numbers and value.
