Hastings welcomes 26 new citizens

Hastings will welcome 26 new New Zealanders at a citizenship ceremony to be held on Monday 28th, November 2011, from 6pm in the Hastings District Council Chamber, Lyndon Road, Hastings.

The candidates’ nationalities are as follows:

Zimbabwean 4
Jordanian 1
Indian 2
American 1
British 12
United States National Samoan 1
Malaysian 1
Swedish 1

A Kaumatua will welcome those present on behalf of tangata whenua.

Councillors will present each candidate with a kowhai tree to symbolise “putting down roots”.
