Hutt Night Market - a great success

The much anticipated market day finally arrived yesterday (1 December) and Lower Hutt turned on a perfect evening to accompany the first Thursday night market in Laings Road. It is estimated that there were up to 1500 people at the market at any point in time with 6000-8000 people attending over the course of the evening.

Those who came enjoyed the opportunity to browse and sample a wide range of foods and crafts with some stallholders reporting that they had their biggest single sales day ever. Many stallholders commented that the crowd and atmosphere were completely different to other markets they had experienced and all are keen for more next Thursday.

And this is just the start of it! “Expect more exciting stalls every week", says Night Market Manager, James Liu.
