The public is being given an opportunity to make submissions on a proposal from the Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust to build a railway between Maymorn and the Rimutaka Summit.

The Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust presented its proposal to Greater Wellington’s Social and Cultural Wellbeing Committee on the 23 November. The Trust’s presentation was followed by comments on the proposal from a range of interested parties.

“We are aware that there is wide-ranging interest in the proposal from the wider community. By asking for public submissions, we hope to capture a range of feedback, which will help us assess the Trust’s application,” says Cr Nigel Wilson, Chair of Greater Wellington’s Social and Cultural Wellbeing Committee.

The decision date has changed from 15 December 2011 to the new date of 15 February 2012 to allow for the public submissions.

Greater Wellington will accept submissions on the Trust’s proposal, including those already received, up to 31 January 2012. To make a submission, visit www.gw.govt.nz/have-your-say.
