Wellington communities are now being asked to help plan what the Council should do over the next ten years for our city.

The Ethnic Forum and Pacific Forum both met in November to discuss future priorities for the city. Like many households the Council is operating in a difficult economic environment and has a focus on ensuring that rates are affordable so participants were also asked to share their views about opportunities to reduce costs or focus less on some services.

Both forums mentioned transport and increasing our earthquake resilience as priorities for Wellington.

Over 130 people attended the Pacific Forum where sessions were facilitated by forum members and around 70 attended the Ethnic Forum.

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown addressed the forums about the future of Wellington, telling them that the Long Term Plan process was important to implement the city's vision to become a smart Capital by 2040.

Discussion forums have been set up online for communities to help identify what the Council should focus on and put forward suggestions about what we can do to keep rates at an affordable level. Visit our website to join the discussion.
