The Race Committee of the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships abandoned racing today due to prolonged electrical storms and a forecast that did not look promising through to evening.

Fleet racing yachts had been held in their boat yards for the morning, awaiting news on the postponement of racing. At 1350 Perth time, the Race Committee made the decision to abandon racing for the day.

The only races completed on day four were in the Women’s Match Racing Group B sailing on Inner Harbour; however NZ did not have any competitors in this group.

The NZL Sailing Team took the opportunity to rest, and enjoyed a break from the hot weather.

Race Committee will have a tough job on their hands to bring racing back to schedule over the next couple days, likely having to use the reserve days to catch up on missed races.

A twenty five minute highlight video from yesterday's racing will be available online here... soon!
