Walkers on the Wither Hills are being advised to take their own water bottles with them because four of the seven drinking fountains located within the Farm Park have been closed for cleaning after concerns about the quality of the water pumped to them.

The District Council routinely monitors the water quality at the fountains, disinfecting the supply when necessary.

The latest testing found low level bacterial contamination at four of the water sites so the Council is taking the opportunity to do some cleaning and maintenance now, before the hottest summer months.

Signs warning not to drink the water are posted at all four fountains, at the Rotary Lookout, Quail Junction, the Taylor View Track and Sutherland Stream.

Measures to upgrade the water quality including improvements to the water holding tanks should be completed by early in the new year.
