Cornwall Park in Hastings will again be the focus for family fun, music and the traditional Christmas carols.

The holiday season is fast approaching and what better way of getting into the festive spirit than by spending time at ‘Christmas in Cornwall Park’ on Sunday, December 18th. The event begins with a Family Fun Day from 3pm till 6pm to be followed by musical entertainment on the main stage from 6pm till 7pm then Christmas carols from 7pm until 9pm.

There will be fun for all the family during the afternoon with Squirt from Splash Planet, children’s stories from Hastings Library story tellers, a miniature train and two huge bouncy castles. Classic Hits 89.5 hosts Martin and Sarah will have giveaways for the kids and the most special guest of all, SANTA arrives on his sleigh at around 5pm.

Entertainment will be provided on two stages featuring the Tropical Downbeat Orchestra, Rag Tag Scoobie Doobie Good Time Band, Underage Sax and Tea Party Classics.

As day turns into night, the Hastings Citizens’ and Bay Cities Symphonic bands will take the stage to provide the backing for the carols. The programme will include all your favourite Christmas carols and everyone will be encouraged to sing along. Families may like to bring a picnic for dinner or you could pay a visit to the many food vendors who will be at the park.

Councillor Sandra Hazlehurst says “Christmas in Cornwall Park is an opportunity to join with friends and family to celebrate the festive season. The afternoon is a time when we can focus on the children and then when the sun goes down everyone can join in the carol singing. The whole event will have a real community feel.”

A priority area for the disabled will be available and they will have access to Cornwall Park from Tomoana Road.

Christmas in Cornwall Park is proudly brought to you by Hastings District Council and is supported by Keep Hastings Beautiful and the Hastings Citizens’ Band.
