Napier Rotary Pathway Trust
This week the Napier Rotary Pathway Trust handed over a $147,000 cheque for the construction of the Westshore Rotary Pathway.
Over 32 kilometers, have now been constructed off-road in Napier, to the value of $2.5 million. The Napier Rotary Pathway Trust has contributed $647,000 to them in partnership with the Napier City Council and the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. John Hennessy, Chairman of the Trust says, “the Trust has been the working magnet for fundraising in our community. Napier people have reason to be proud of the Napier Pathways – they helped build them.”
Fundraising is still continuing as pathway partners move rapidly toward the goal of circumnavigating Napier, linking the two cities and having pathways accessible to everyone in Napier. Mayor Barbara Arnott said yesterday, “originally this vision was a 20 year project, but thanks to the Trust, some funding from government and our partnership, we have achieved an extensive network of pathways around the city in ten years. These are well utilized by thousands of our residents and are a drawcard for visitors”.
