Megan Wihongi is not your everyday travel agent in the Waikato.

Megan, who has 14 years experience in the travel and airline industry in New Zealand and the United States, is a mobile travel specialist.

“Working for myself gives me the ability to help clients who may not be able to make it to a travel agency during business hours because of their own busy schedule,” explains Megan.

“I can stop by and visit them at home or work and discuss their travel arrangements at a time that’s convenient for them - during the day, after work or even in the weekend – it’s up to the client.

“Another great aspect of my business is that I have all of the experience and connections of a traditional travel agency without their operating overheads which makes it possible to provide a much more affordable travel service than people are used to,” says Megan.

Although she works independently, Megan operates under the umbrella of Travel Managers who are New Zealand’s only 100 per cent broker-based retail travel group with more than 150 brokers.

“This provides me with the unobtrusive backing of a large organisation which ensures that I have state of the art systems, significant buying power and can provide financial security to my clients.”

Megan’s decision to begin her own business as a travel specialist was fuelled by her passion for the travel industry and it has enabled her to embrace a harmonious work/life balance.

She provided all travel arrangements for the Hamilton Boys High School’s First XV rugby team, coaches and several supporters to Japan and Thailand this year for the 2011 Sanix International Rugby tournament which they won.

Megan has a clear vision of where she wishes to head in the future.

“My aim is to become one of the top travel specialists in New Zealand and an industry leader in my chosen niche,” she says.

“My goal is to achieve the highest possible level of client satisfaction while building long-term client relationships,” she said.
