Finding high quality medical care for you and your family just got easier.

ProCare Health, Auckland’s largest general practice network representing more than 200 general practice teams, has launched a new website offering a quick-and-easy “Find a Doctor” search function, and access to information on free community events and health programmes.

All practices listed on www.procare.co.nz form part of the ProCare network. They must meet best practice standards, and are supported with programmes, services, education and training to ensure they continuously provide their patients with the most quality, up-to-date primary care services.

Enrolling with a ProCare doctor means you can trust you will be cared for by a well-supported family medical centre. The majority of Auckland GPs have chosen ProCare as their Network and the number of new GPs joining ProCare is rapidly increasing. “By being 100% doctor-owned, ProCare is able to remain committed to the best family medical care. ProCare GP teams provide their patients with a true medical home ensuring a comprehensive, coordinated approach across all aspects of health and wellness care”, says John Cameron, ProCare’s clinical director.

Looking for a GP? You can search the new online directory by the name of a doctor, the name of your medical centre, or simply by where you live. Listings include opening hours, contact information and ‘Google maps’ to help you find the clinic.

Ways you can connect with ProCare: You can find out more about ProCare’s community-based health programmes and events, including:

  • Life-skills courses to help you manage chronic illnesses
  • Diabetes self-management courses to help you manage your diet and medicines
  • Pacific parish partnerships, where ProCare medical professionals come out to churches across the region and hold heart disease, diabetes and other health checks in a safe environment
  • Marae-based health programmes, such as group health checks and healthy lifestyle programmes
  • Lifestyle and fitness programmes including walking programmes; gardening projects; ‘Bollyrobix’- Bollywood style aerobic sessions; and swimming groups especially for South Asian women migrants.

ProCare’s practices also offer all their patients’ free after-hours medical advice with a registered nurse over the phone, evenings, weekends and public holidays. The nurses are able to help more than 80% of all callers at home, saving you unnecessary trips to A & M’s. All you need to do is phone your practice’s number after hours to be redirected to the free 24 hour triage service. In a life-threatening emergency please dial 111 immediately.
