Vehicle accident

Police report that at about 5pm today, a vehicle travelling north-bound on the southern motorway crashed into the median barrier causing it to flip over. The scene was in the immediate vicinity of the Highbrooke on and off ramp.

The lone male driver has been taken to Auck hosp with critical injures and all north-bound lanes were closed for a short time.

In that two of the three lanes are now open, traffic flow in both directions is extremely slow.

Motorists are urged to be patient, drive with caution and to avoid this thoroughfare if at all possible.

Traffic ques are expected to clear in the next couple of hours.
