LOWER HUTT

Hutt City Council provides advice and support to help businesses become more sustainable with networking opportunities, practical tools, training and sustainability assessments.

Sustainable businesses are often cost-efficient and productive. They attract and retain loyal customers, and Hutt residents are keen to see a greener city.

We have a range of incentives and programmes for businesses and individuals that put recycling and energy efficiency at the top of the list.

One of these incentives is $400 towards the cost of joining the Rata Sustainable Certification Programme - New Zealand's first sustainable certification programme. As a member, you’ll get professional advice about improving efficiency, reducing waste, greening your supply chain and making cost savings.

Director of the Rata Sustainable Certification Programme Sandra Pringle says joining the programme will give businesses the information, tools and contacts needed to make a positive step towards environmental and economic sustainability.

“We think it’s time for businesses to change the way they work. Our purpose is to help make that change happen, by informing, supporting and instilling the value of sustainability to our members.

“We already have a committed group of local Hutt businesses signed up to the programme and already benefiting from a fresh, more sustainable perspective.

“Our advice is don’t wait for your competitors to force the way you do business – be proactive and make some real changes in your business today.
