BLENHEIM

Christmas can be a lonely time for older people who don’t have family or friends close by.
Make sure elderly neighbours and relatives are not ignored – extend an invitation to join your table.

If you live alone, make sure you are not spending the whole day by yourself this Christmas. Get together with a friend and share a meal or exchange small gifts.

Everyone is welcome at the Blenheim’s Community Christmas Dinner.

It’s held at the Blenheim Elim Centre, Burleigh Road, at midday on Christmas Day.

Phone the Elim Centre on 03 578 9053 to register. Transport can be arranged if needed.

For those who will be alone and are feeling low on the day, there is a friendly voice at the end of the phone: Samaritans Line: Freephone: 0800 726 666 at any time.

  • Samaritans will remain open 24 hours a day for the entire Christmas period, including Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
  • LifeLine New Zealand - counsellors are available 24 hours a day, Freephone: 0800 543 354.
