CHRISTCHURCH

Aftershocks have continued to affect Christchurch residents today, 2 January 2012. The Council would like to remind the community to look after neighbours, friends and family and take care during this difficult time.

The following is an update on facilities as at 4pm 2 January 2012.

Museum/Art Gallery

• Akaroa Museum - open
• Central Art Gallery - closed including Gallery Shop due to continuing threat from the adjacent Gallery Apartments
Civic Offices (53 Hereford Street)
• Civic Offices closed until assessments completed.

Libraries

• Redwood – target to open Wednesday 4 January
• Halswell - open Wednesday 4 January
• Mini Linwood (Smith Street) - target to open Wednesday 4 January
• Central Library (Peterborough St) - open Wednesday 4 January
• Central South City - open Wednesday 4 January
• South Library - open Wednesday 4 January
• Papanui Library - open Wednesday 4 January
• Hornby Library - open Wednesday 4 January
• Shirley Library - open Wednesday 4 January
• Lyttelton – target to open Wednesday 4 January
• Spreydon – open Wednesday 4 January
• Akaroa – target to open Wednesday 4 January

• Belfast pool and park paddling pools open

Housing

• Housing complexes with previous earthquake issues have been visited and engineers are assessing specific units which are considered 'indicator' buildings

Community Facilities

• Hei Hei Community Centre, Waimairi Community Centre, Abberley Park Hall, Harvard Lounge, North New Brighton Community Centre and Ouruhia Hall open

Service Centres

• Akaroa, Little River, Papanui, Riccarton, Shirley, South Library open Wednesday 4 January
• Lyttelton target open Wednesday 4 January
• Civic (53 Hereford Street) target open Monday 9 January
Other
• All facilities at the Groynes and Bottle Lake Park are open.
• Rapaki Track is closed.
• Brighton Pier is open.
• Wastewater Treatment Plant open
• Eastern, Styx and Parkhouse Transfer Stations open
• HSBC House in Worcester Street is yet to be re-assessed
