Christchurch City Council facilities update
Christchurch City Council is continuing assessments of its facilities following the latest aftershocks. More facilities have re-opened today (Wednesday 4 January).
Museum/Art Gallery
Akaroa Museum - open
Christchurch Art Gallery – closed, including the Gallery Shop.
Civic Offices (53 Hereford Street)
The Civic Offices are closed until minor repairs are completed. At this stage, it is envisaged that the facility will re-open next Tuesday 10 January.
Libraries
Most libraries that were open prior to the 23 December aftershocks re-opened today.
They include:
Redwood Library
Halswell Library
Mini Linwood (Smith Street)
Central Library Peterborough
Central South City Library
South Library
Papanui Library
Hornby Library
Shirley Library
Lyttelton Library
Spreydon Library
Akaroa Library
New Brighton Library
Parklands Library
Diamond Harbour Library –expected to open on Thursday 5 January.
Camping Grounds
Spencer Park Camping Ground - open
South Brighton Camping Ground - open
Pools/Leisure facilities
Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre is open.
Parklands Gym is open.
Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre is open.
Graham Condon Recreation Centre is open.
Halswell Pool is open.
Templeton Pool is open.
Belfast Pool and park paddling pools are open.
Housing
Housing complexes with previous earthquake issues have been visited and engineers are assessing specific units which are considered 'indicator' buildings.
Community Facilities
Hei Hei Community Centre, Waimairi Community Centre, Abberley Park Hall, Harvard Lounge, North New Brighton Community Centre and Ouruhia Hall are open.
Service Centres
Akaroa, Little River, Papanui, Riccarton, Shirley, Beckenham, Linwood and Lyttelton Service Centres are open.
Other
All facilities at the Groynes and Bottle Lake Park are open.
Rapaki Track is closed.
Brighton Pier is open.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant is open.
Eastern, Styx and Parkhouse Transfer Stations are open.
