A search has resumed this morning for missing swimmer 24 year old Albert Alapati,
who was last seen around 4pm on Saturday afternoon in water at Titahi Bay.

Officer in charge of the search, Senior Constable Dan O'Connell says extensive aerial, marine and shoreline searches have been carried out since Saturday evening by Land SAR volunteers, Surf Lifesaving New Zealand, the Coastguard, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Department of Conservation and Police.

"Sadly, we have been unable to locate Mr Alapati. This morning a marine search has resumed again with Surf Lifesaving New Zealand and Police. The Coastguard is also on standby to provide further assistance and consideration is being given to utilising the resources of the Police National Dive Squad."

Further information on today's search will be provided late this afternoon.
