Both lanes of Hamilton’s Resolution Drive will be closed until early next week while pavement maintenance work is completed.

City Transportation Manager Phil Consedine said pavements running alongside the arterial road, in the city’s northeast, are being strengthened through a cement stabilising method. The work is part of a renewal programme, and is done frequently on Hamilton’s busier roads.

“Our contractor has moved quickly to do this work this week, while the weather is favourable and while traffic levels are relatively light,” Mr Consedine said.

The lanes are being closed at separate intervals for the work to be completed. The city-bound lane of Resolution Drive is the priority, and closed from Thomas Road to Wairere Drive until early next week. The south-bound lane on the same stretch will be closed later this week.

Mr Consedine urged motorists to use alternative routes via River Road, Hukanui Road or Discovery Drive.

“We realise these closures may cause some inconvenience, and we apologise for that, but it’s essential we get this work done,” he said.
