CANTERBURY

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling’s elite National Time Trial Champion Paul Odlin continued his fine form against the clock lowering the Christchurch Time Trial Association’s 16 kilometre record by two seconds on Tuesday night.

Odlin recorded 19 minutes and 40 seconds on the Tai Tapu course, taking two seconds off Michael Vink’s record set in 2010. Racing has only resumed on the Tai Tapu course this summer after the September earthquakes caused damage to the road making racing not possible.

Odlin was very happy to lower the record, saying he was keen to lower it even further.

“It was a really hard effort coming back into the wind,” Odlin said. “But I've got the bug now and I'm keen to lower this time substantially, and so is Mike (Vink).”
